Medical Scribe

Job description:

True North Neurology is hiring a Medical Scribe to join our team. This is a full-time position and requires flexible hours, including Saturday availability.

Neurology and/or Medical Scribe experience is preferred. EMR experience preferred. However, will train the right candidates!

This position assists with supporting the medical provider by increasing their efficiency and productivity. It includes the following responsibilities:

  • Performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinical setting.
  • Accompanies the physician during patient visits to capture and accurately transcribe medical record documentation utilizing the EMR.
  • Assists provider in setting and performing procedures as allowed by state guidelines.
  • Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
  • Primary responsibility of the operation of the electronic health records and electronic dictation system.
  • Anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.
  • Must be discreet, tactful and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
  • Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms.
  • Retrieve patient’s files in EMR, verify the information on file, and inserts new patient record forms, and information.
  • Protect patient’s rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal and financial information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience working as a medical scribe.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
  • Friendly and compassionate disposition with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
  • Ability to expertly document patient care and transcribe patient appointments
